Sonic Ecology

William Lane and Lam Lai | 凌藝廉 林儷


Sonic Ecology, the first sound-based platform advocating environmental awareness and engagement in Hong Kong, brings together composers, sound artists, film makers, scientists and researchers under the same roof. Structured around performances, workshops and a conference, Sonic Ecology provides a platform to reflect on new ways the arts can respond to pressing issues of our time, including climate change, global warming and sustainable development.


Sonic Ecology 是香港首個以聲音為本，以宣揚關注環境議題為目的的平台，當中匯集了作曲家、聲音藝術家、紀實電影製作人、科學家及研究人員的看法和各類創作，以尋求社會對議題有更深入的理解與共鳴。透過一系列的作品、工作坊及論壇，Sonic Ecology 積極探討我們的時代亟待解決的各種議題，如氣候變化、全球變暖、可持續發展等，並為透過藝術反思相關議題提供了一個新平台。

William Lane | 凌藝廉

William Lane performs as a soloist, orchestral and chamber musician in Australia, Asia, Europe and North America. He studied under Jan Sedivka, Bruno Giuranna and Garth Knox, as well as in Germany at the International Ensemble Modern Academy, and in Switzerland at the Lucerne Festival Academy under Pierre Boulez. He was a prizewinner of Valentino Bucchi Competition in Rome in 2005.

Lane was Principal Viola of Ensemble Resonanz and a member of the Hong Kong Philharmonic; and has appeared as guest violist of Ensemble Modern and the Lucerne Festival Strings. Based in Hong Kong since 2008, he is Founder, Artistic Director and Violist of Hong Kong New Music Ensemble, Asia’s most active professional chamber ensemble dedicated to new music. In 2013 he was awarded the Award for Young Artist (Music) from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council.


凌藝廉經常穿梭澳洲、亞洲、歐洲及北美作獨奏、樂團及室樂演出。他曾隨薛迪夫卡、朱拉納及諾斯學習，於德國國際現代合奏學院進修，並於瑞士琉森音樂節學院隨布萊茲學藝，亦是2005年羅馬布基音樂大賽得獎者。

凌藝廉曾是香港管弦樂團樂師及德國鳴聲弦樂團的首席中提琴，亦曾於德國現代合奏團及琉森節日弦樂團作客席演出。他自2008年起於香港發展，是香港創樂團的創辦人、藝術總監及中提琴手。他於2013年獲香港藝術發展局頒發「藝術新秀獎（音樂）」。

Lam Lai | 林儷

Lam Lai received her BA and MA in composition and electronic music at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and further studied at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. She is interested in the new media hybrids and new experiences for the audience. Her compositions - orchestra, ensemble, electronic, and interdisciplinary works - have celebrated their world premieres all across the globe. In 2011, her work Frozen Moment for synchronising two ensembles in two cities was performed by the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble and Ensemble Adapter at the Berlin MaerzMusik Festival. Participated art festivals include the Munich Biennale, Stuttgart Die Irritierte Stadt, Musica Nova Helsinki, Iceland Cycle Music and Art festival, Hong Kong Hell Hot! Music Festival, New Vision Arts festival, Sonic Anchor. Lam Lai also contributes in the music and art education sector. She was invited by Hong Kong Arts Centre as an artistic tutor, designing a series of workshops on the topic “Art & Technology” for different groups of secondary school students who came for the exhibition.

生於香港，畢業於香港演藝學院，師隨羅永暉先生及麥偉鑄先生，主修作曲，其後於荷蘭皇家音樂學院繼續進修，隨Martijn Padding 及Yannis Kyriakides。創作類型多元，由傳統器樂、中西樂團、電子音樂至多媒體劇場作品，帶給觀眾創新音樂感受。作品風格以結合不同媒體為主，2011年4月，作品《凝結時光》於德國柏林音樂Berliner Festspiele 2011由德國柏林樂團Ensemble Adapter及香港創樂團經由互聯網 步演出。曾合作新音樂樂團包括，荷蘭Nieuw Ensemble、Atlas Academy、New European Ensemble、德國Experimentalstudio des SWR、 Internationale Ensemble Modern Akademie、美國Dallas Winds、挪威即興樂團Parallax 及香港創樂團等。參與藝術節包括香港好熱音樂節，香港新視野藝術節、荷蘭Holland Festival、芬蘭Musica Nova Helsinki、香港「聲音下寨」系列、為香港西九文化區“M+進行：充氣!”展覽等。除創作音樂外，亦與藝術教育項目，曾被邀為香港藝術中心年展“Art & Technology” 設計一系列工作坊，與參觀展覽的中學生互動分享聲音藝術。剛過去的冬天，與音樂劇場劇團de Veenfabriek合作，於荷蘭多個城市為作品RAARRR 巡迴演出。
